Trojan, Virus & Open Proxy Wingate Information

For the safety of our users and to maintain the integrity of the Wired Patrol IRC Network we do not permit connections from computers that are running insecure Wingate/Proxy or systems infected with Trojan Viruses. By connecting to our service you are consenting that our port scanners can test the integrity of your system before you are allowed to continue your IRC session with us. If you have been banned from our network because your system is not secure you will need to resolve your issue before you will be permitted to connect again. If you run a firewall/proxy for a valid reason it's most likely developed by one of the companies list below. Select the one that suites you to get help with securing your product.

Once you have secured your proxy contact  with your K-lined IP Address and we will have the ban lifted.

Why should I do anything?
There are unfortunately people out there who spend a great deal of time looking for a way to bypass security measures used increasingly by ISPs to thwart spammers - people who send large volumes of unsolicited mail to large numbers of email addresses. One way to bypass ISP security for sending mail is to appear to be a valid ISP client. This can be done through proxy software such as WinGate, if it is not securely configured.

So. In general, in order to stop people doing things that may be attributed to you, which could result in things like you getting your account shut down, you should ensure that your proxy server installation is secure from unauthorized use.

As far as viruses and Trojans are concerned there are thousands of variants out there and how you deal with each  one is usually different. Our suggestion is that you purchase a virus scanner and keep the definition files up to date. the best prevention to this problem is to not open questionable files from other users even from ones you know. For Windows users one other real important step you should take to secure your computer would be to check for critical system updates for windows all the time at the Windows Update site here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/default.htm
